Description
To perpetuate the principles governing the future mountain law of 1985, still in gestation, elected representatives formed the Association nationale des élus de la montagne in October 1984.
With its 6,000 members - mayors, community, departmental and regional councillors, as well as members of parliament - the Association Nationale des Élus de la Montagne now brings together some 4,000 communes and EPCIs, 40 departments, 7 regions and 240 members of parliament.
The Association works with all associations of elected representatives, as well as with all mountain associations and socio-professional bodies, and helps to ensure synergy of efforts, playing a pivotal role in federating mountain people and defending the future of mountain territories and populations.
